Thursday 10th around the vineyards

It had been very windy during the night and we awoke to out first really dull day. The wind has abated slightly but is still strong. The forecast is that the wind will reduce further and the sun will make a reappearance this afternoon. We are hoping to have lunch at one of the vineyards where some excellent platters are provided along with a little wine tasting. Sunshine is definitely a requirement for such lunches.

The Favourite certainly showcased some excellent acting from Olivia Coleman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz but the film itself is certainly very odd and quite bizarre at times.

Time to catch up on some admin items whilst we wait for the wind to abate and hopefully for the sun to come out.

The weather soon improved and Ray was off for a cycle ride for around an hour in still blustery conditions but with the sun emerging.

Then it was time for lunch which had been planned at Pallister Vineyards but this was thwarted since they now only open Friday to Sunday. Undeterred, we sped on our bikes to explore other vineyards with a garden for lunch and soon came across Tiwaiwaka which apparently has recently taken over from the renowned Cabbage Tree. We had an excellent platter for lunch with lots of local produce, venison salami, smoked chicken, ham, three types of sheep's cheese and home produced olive oil which was the best ever. All of course washed down by a glass, or two of excellent Martinborough wine.

A quiet afternoon and our thoughts are now turning to Wellington which is our final port of call on the North island and where the LLW will meet with a lawyer  who she has worked with and who works for a Wellington law firm, Quigg parents. We will also dine at a restaurant called Pravda, where Sadie O'Rourke the daughter of our friends Charlie & Belinda is the restaurant manager.
