We arrived at Gatwick (which was as busy as we have ever seen it) bright and early for our flight to Basel which was spot on time and our hold luggage was delivered in record time at Basel airport. Hertz tried to upsell us to a more expensive Alfa Guilietta car but we stuck with our Opel Adam which proved to be absolutely excellent. The LLW did a sterling job in navigating us away from the airport and into Germany where we took smaller roads into the Black Forest stopping for a while at the town of Schluchtsee situated on the lake of the same name - delightful.
Approaching Titisee we had some problems finding the road into the town and west along the side of the lake where we were staying at the Alemannenhof apartments. However, it was eventually found and we settled in to our lovely apartment with great views over the lake before an excellent (if expensive) dinner at the associated Alemannenhof Hotel.
