Tuesday 3rd January. Wanaka and around the lake

Yesterday evening we met again with the Dixon Clan at a different beach - Glendhu Bay. Once again the children were kept amused by swimming, catching small fish and generally larking about. Occasionally the LLW was called into action to keep Ollie and Albi amused. Most of the time we stayed in the shade with Hilton and Anne.

Afterwards we headed back to our campsite to enjoy a dinner of pork chops and salad. Our site in Wanaka is great, plenty of room where our Motor Home is parked and the site is very calm and quiet.

Tuesday morning we decided to take the Motor Home down to the lakeside early to ensure we had a sensible parking space to start our cycle ride.

Before we drove down it was breakfast in the sunshine with some cheese and bacon rolls purchased by the LLW. The intention was to have one each but they were so good there was a unanimous decision to finish them!

We found a good spot to park and off we cycled, firstly clockwise to Waterfall Creek and then anticlockwise, past the centre and the marina, to Peninsular Bay. As you can see it is much quieter today.

On the way back we stopped in Wanaka for flat whites and cakes which are always good in NZ and Ray even purchased a couple of T-Shirts.

Back to the Motor Home and a swim for Ray before driving back to the campsite for a rest and for the LLW to catch up with her men.

Dinner tonight is what looks like two very good steaks on the BBQ. I know we have said this many times before about NZ but it always feels hotter here that at the same temperature in the UK. Today it is 21C but the sun is so fierce it feels more like 28/30. We blame the hole in the Ozone layer.
