We have now finished skiing for the week and have been very lucky with brilliant sunshine every day except Tuesday when it was slightly cloudy. Our skiing has been mixed but safe and we have very much enjoyed it. The LLW has skied better than for some time and Ray's knees have just about held together. The first 3 days were completed without the Ski MoJo and the last 3 with. I certainly could not have skied so much without it.
The scenery as ever is spectacular and of course with blue skies and bright sunshine it is even more so. At times the temperature has been as warm at 10C during the day but luckily every night well below freezing. This has allowed the snow canons to be used ever night and by 09:00 the pistes have been in perfect condition. Certainly our best combination of snow and sun for many years.
It has never been crowded although there are clearly large numbers of people around (all of the the are ski bars are humming from 3pm onwards). We have just skied down the piste in the photo above and as you can see it is hardly busy.
The Hapimag residence in Saalbach (see below) has been an excellent base and we have had a small but very well fitted apartment which is perfect for two people. The LLW has even managed to master the HDMI connection between her PC and the TV so we have been able to watch a number of DVDs.
Our final lunch in the mountains has been at Kohlmais Stuben where we enjoyed very large salads washed down with an excellent Gruner Veltliner. Beautiful views all round
The forecast for tonight and tomorrow is for fairly heavy snow so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we will not have too difficult a drive back to Salzburg. We must leave about 07:00 and luckily it is light by then and the Austrians are usually super efficient in keeping the roads clear.
